People often refer to older single's as 'leftovers.' Well, I am no leftover, nor do I deserve to settle for someone that is.

The bottom

I think I hit the bottom of the pit and the treasure is yet to be found. This weekend has felt more like digging through a junk yard, looking for a diamond. And to be honest…I just can’t do it anymore right now. I feel like I’ve been through so many guys lately…maybe haven’t dated them all…but I’m constantly disappointed. I cannot handle one more disappointment right now. I actually feel slightly repelled by men at the moment. I do not want to see or talk to another one for…awhile. I’m tired of trying so hard to be such a great person for them when they are doing nothing in return. I am a good find dang it! And I deserve someone who can appreciate that and who is willing to try to better their lives from time to time. Someone with a little motivation to be somebody…and maybe a little intelligence too. That would go a long way! These small requests however, seem monumental to the task at hand. It seems that there must be some quality somewhere…but I cannot in any way search another minute for it! Not right now. Not today.

I think you have every right to "take a break" and not worry about the dating game for a while. But had to say that I noticed the multiple chastisements to the single brethren during General Conference to get their act together. Maybe things will turn around soon for you :)

Yep, I noticed that in General Conference, too! And I also agree, it's okay to not care about it for awhile. It's okay to take a break. You shouldn't always have to try so hard--you should just be able to relax and be yourself. The guy that's right for you will see that and appreciate that even when you're not trying. And if a guy can't see that, they aren't worth it anyway! It's okay to feel discouraged. The great thing about you is that you always get back on your feet!

Have you tried hanging out on blogs that weren't all *chick* blogs?

I'm serious. I've made a ton of friends, all over the globe, online.

There are tons of blogs that are *all men* and you'll get an inordinate amount of attention from just posting on them a little.

Don't let geography to limit your options!

Hey girls...thanks! I did notice all the talks, I couldn't help it when the people around me kept point out my singleness and related me to them. They WERE good talks though! I think that I was quite discouraged afterward because even in the midst of such great council, I was hearing from less than ideal men who OBVIOUSLY did not heed the council or pay one bit of attention to it. I don't know...just hit a major breaking point!! are right Tacy, I will get back on my feet...sometime. :)

Captious Nut...Guys blog?? Just kidding, thanks for the suggestion. If I ever feel the desire to speak to or look at a man again in the near future, I will certainly keep that option open. Any suggestions as to where to find these man blogs??

Anything political (not environmental though!), financial (stocks, trading, etc.), car blogs, sports blogs,...even a borderline crass humor website. Where else do you think SINGLE men hang out?

It's okay, most such cavemen are amenable to reform. That's what women do, they civilize men!

How about Star Trek or Star Wars blogs?

Just stay away from sites with *recipes* and you'll find plenty of men online.

Interesting you should mention Star Wars/Star Trek. Let me just share what I read on my friend's blog the other day (hope she doesn't mind!!) about a party she went to:

"What I observed was a room full of beautiful, educated, articulate, successful women with degrees and professions and self awareness trying to make conversation with sub-par and very awkward men. Two of them couldn't stop talking about Star Wars. One of them made up some persona about being a make up artist. (In Utah, really)? The others stood awkwardly silent unless asked a question. From the conversations I heard none of them had valid or valuable professions or interesting lives."

I know it was a's just sooo close to the reality of what is available around here! Kind of disturbing, haha!

Anyway, I will check out a wider array of blog material soon. Seems like a good place to go next...when I am ready .
